In May, our team headed to New Orleans to work with one of our favorite clients, the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery (ASCRS). The Annual ASCRS-ASOA Symposium and Congress hosts more than 10,000 eye surgeons, nurses, technicians, administrators, AND exhibitors who demonstrate the latest technology and services in the field.
Event Transportation Systems (ETS) managed the shuttle transportation for attendees who stayed in hotel properties across the city. We also provided shuttle graphics that ASCRS sells as part of their sponsorship opportunities AND we produced the official convention television news program also offered to exhibiting companies as an advertising opportunity. These opportunities were positioned to generate revenue for the association to offset the cost of transportation. Graphics and video production services are offered through Newsday Communications, a division of ETS.
Shuttle Graphics Shuttle graphics are always a hit, and a tremendously effective way for exhibiting companies to announce a new product or service, generate brand awareness, and drive attendees to their booth exhibit. ASCRS was able to generate substantial revenue with shuttle graphic offerings at this year’s meeting.
Video Production Video production is another aspect of our full-service suite of offerings. Armed with an experienced production team, Newsday Communications produces video content that can be used in a variety of ways. This year in New Orleans, we produced the official convention news television program, captured lots of video content for future marketing use, and edited short pieces on-site for use in social media channels during and after the meeting, including a “highlights” video.
The convention television news program served three purposes;
First, it’s a communications tool to help ASCRS accomplish some of its meeting goals, including getting members to:
– visit the ASCRS Booth on the exhibits floor
– complete an important survey
– enter in the TESLA give-away raffle
– download the meeting APP
– participate in the foundation race
Second it’s a channel for advertisers to get their own message out, whether announcing a new product or communicating a special offer at their booth exhibit. And, third, it’s an advertising revenue generator for ASCRS.
Video content for marketing and social media can be especially effective as a communications tool. On site at the meeting, we produced lots of short pieces that had a branded ASCRS-ASOA intro. Below is an example of one of our videos. These types of short communication pieces are great at increasing engagement with members and getting messages out quickly and effectively.
GPS Shuttle Tracking Technology Always striving to be a leader and stay ahead of the curve, ETS has been using its new GPS-powered shuttle tracking system that takes shuttle management to the next level. Not only is this technology used behind the scenes to track and optimize shuttle routes, it also powers the ETS-Next-Shuttle App, which we describe as the “Uber” of meetings and events transportation. ASCRS-ASOA attendees who downloaded the APP were able to see exactly when their next bus was arriving to take them from their hotel to the convention center, reducing the amount of time they had to spend waiting on the curb.
